To manage freight transportation on behalf of customers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers like FreightCenter are required to hold a surety bond, which protects consumers from financially unstable companies and fraudulent activity. In 2013, the minimum bond changed, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires that a 3PL hold a $75,000 minimum bond. Carting Express customers are protected by a $100,000 surety bond backed by the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA).
